AI answers
When on, Crystal reads the top results and writes a short answer in plain
English, with clickable citations back to the source. When off, it shows the single most
relevant passage exactly as written — no AI, no cost.

unencrypted on this server. Use a throwaway IAM user scoped to Bedrock invoke — never a
production key.
Removes the key ID and secret from this server. They are also removed automatically
if you switch the connection back to an Anthropic API key — nothing is kept once you stop using Bedrock.
Analyzes each section of a document as you add it, making search noticeably
more accurate. Uses a small amount of your AI budget per document; applies to documents
added while it's on.
Smarter search
By default Crystal matches the words in your question. Turn on smarter
search to also match by meaning — so “time off” still finds the “PTO policy” even when
the wording differs. Pick one option below; leave all blank to stay
keyword-only (free, offline). Already-indexed documents will offer a quick re-index.
Whichever option you pick here sends passage text to that provider. This is
separate from the AI connection above and is not covered by it — choosing
Bedrock for answers does not route search through your AWS account.
Keys are stored only on this server and are used solely to call the provider
you turn on. They’re never shown again after you save and never sent anywhere else.
